Action To The Word theatre company was formed in 2006 to create exciting and eclectic classical theatre for a wide audience. Primarily, though not exclusively, the company present the works of William Shakespeare.
Opening their 2012 season is their new production of Romeo & Juliet which opens Valentine's Day at Camden People's Theatre and they are also in production for their forthcoming third part of The Oresteia - Eumenides which will play at The Pleasance in 2012.
They have just completed their 2011 Edinburgh Season which includes their award-nominated
5 Star all-male A Clockwork Orange, their hit Titus Andronicus and a new work created by the company,
the award-winning
Constance & Sinestra and the Cabinet of Screams, which transferred to the New Wimbledon Theatre.
Led by company director Alexandra Spencer-Jones, they have recently completed their site-specific second part of The Oresteia - Choephori, their revival of their 2008 piece of ultraviolence - Titus Andronicus, their sell-out adaptation of Agamemnon, the first part of their large-scale site-specific project, The Oresteia, their celebrated The Merchant of Venice at Camden People's Theatre, their ground-breaking all-male A Clockwork Orange at Proud Galleries and their site-specific Romeo & Juliet which launched London's Abbeyfest.
In 2008 the troupe was heralded at the Edinburgh Festival for their award-winning production of Titus Andronicus which ran side-by-side with their devised piece Shakespeare Shorts or What's in a Name?
