"THE MERCHANT OF VENICE has to be my favourite Shakespeare play - it has everything: love, loss, money, deception and a court scene that bests all law dramas since. The many strong moral messages still resonate today, and the poetry is - put simply - astonishing.

"I adore Shakepeare's ability to meld a multitude of themes whilst never failing to be thoroughly entertaining, and
TWELFTH NIGHT has it all for me: falling in love with the wrong person, disguises, duplicitous trick-playing, silliness,
and a good old shipwreck. Thank goodness it all turns out right in the end!"

"Choosing HAMLET is similar to choosing vanilla above all other ice-cream flavours. It is perhaps unsurprising, it is not original, but its appeal lies in its complex simplicity, its subtle power and the luxurious way that it feels on your tongue"

"I always have a soft spot for AS YOU LIKE IT. It's the

"My favorite Shakespeare play is KING LEAR. The theme of a dysfunctional family and its breakdown is something that fascinates me. It has such complex characters, their feelings and actions seem extreme yet all of us have their capabilities. The rawness and and poignancy of the language just excites me and whenever I read or see it I come away with new feelings and tinkering thoughts on the play and it takes me days for the piece to leave my mind!"

"My favourite Shakespeare play is Othello. It was the first play I ever read of Shakespeare's
and the character of Iago, the power that he holds with language, was a huge catalyst for me wanting to be an actress.
I find it fascinating that the mind and imagination can wade so far from reality; that the mind constructs reality. The power of a perfectly spun
suggestion. That pure words and imagination can turn a heaven into hell."

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Alexandra has produced for Glynis Henderson Productions and is currently Assistant to the Director on The Wizard of Oz at The London Palladium.
"KING LEAR is, I think, the heart of the complete works. Every word of it makes me tingle. Such damaged people, such pure and horrid hatred, total emptiness and nature betraying everything wherever it can. At the end, I feel simultaneously exhausted and exhilarated - desperate to find the world after the play, where HOPEFULLY some humanity will feature. "

"In A WINTER'S TALE we experience Shakespeare's most mature writing; he flaunts his mastery of verse drama; then
proceeds to throw the rule book out the window. The result perfectly fits the psychological drama he creates in the first
three acts. Then he gives us a bit of farce before supplying an improbably happy ending. Genius!"
